美國流行音樂天后女神卡卡（Lady Gaga）2014年就透露自己青少年時期曾遭到性侵害，不過顯然她的家人中不是每個都知道這件事。

美國有線電視新聞網（CNN）報導，女神卡卡表示，在2月28日奧斯卡頒獎典禮表演之前，她的奶奶隆妮（Ronnie）和阿姨雪莉（Sheri）都不知道她是性侵害犯罪的倖存者（survivor）。

女神卡卡2日在Instagram上傳1張家人合照，並寫道：「我的奶奶（中）和我阿姨雪莉（右）都在奧斯卡頒獎典禮結束後隔天打電話給我，因為我從來沒跟她們說過，我也是性侵害的倖存者。」

2月28日的典禮上，女神卡卡演唱入圍最佳原創歌曲的「Til It Happens to You」，由美國副總統拜登（Joe Biden）擔任引言人，並在表演時邀請50位性侵害倖存者上台。女神卡卡與名作曲家黛安華倫（Diane Warren）一同為美國大學校園性侵害問題紀錄片《獵場》（The Hunting Ground）編寫這首主題曲。

女神卡卡進一步在貼文中解釋，她19歲被性侵害時「太羞愧、太害怕」跟家人討論這件事，因為「我是天主教徒，我知道這是罪惡的事，但我當時以為是我自己的錯。」

她在2014年接受電台主持人霍華史登（Howard Stern）訪問時透露，19歲那年，她被1個年紀比她大20多歲的男子性侵，但事後她從來沒有跟這名男子正面對質過。她說：「我不想讓自己被這件事情界定。」（I don't want to be defined by it.）

她在貼文中寫道：「10年來我一直認為這是我的錯。奧斯卡結束後的隔天早上，我跟我奶奶隆妮談起這件事的時候，可以從電話中聽到眼淚掉落的聲音。她對我說：『我親愛的外孫女，我對你感到無比驕傲』。」

女神卡卡又說：「這件我感到極度羞愧、藏在心裡很久的事，卻成為我生命中的女人最驕傲的事情。她們不是其他女人，她們是我最敬愛的家人。#勇敢#不要保持沉默#tilithappenstoyou。」
